Leadership Success
The study and practice of leadership as a science and art predate history. The concept of one best single-style leadership was debunked years ago in favor of assessing what leadership a follower needs in each situation and then matching the right leadership practice to the need. Flow teaches leaders how to determine what’s needed and to adjust as necessary. Assessment and feedback ensure leaders grow their abilities and gain confidence in their approach to achieve the right balance of directive and collaborative leadership behaviors.
You may be grappling with some of the questions below at this very moment.
How do we ensure we have the right people in the right roles?
Starting with the understanding that every individual has specific strengths and weaknesses, we help our clients articulate the prioritized capabilities needed for each role and assess candidates against those capabilities. Leaders benefit from self-assessment and other-assessment so they can adjust over time to meet changing demands. Flow teaches and coaches leaders to leverage their strengths and seek assistance from others to mitigate weaknesses and ultimately match roles with resources.

Are we fully supporting leadership development?
Most recognize the importance of developing current and future leaders, but many assume those leaders will figure out what’s needed and how to get it on their own. But development at both the individual and team levels requires a structured approach and commitment to doing the work. Flow supports leaders and leadership teams with tools and practices to grow and strengthen. Once the leader has a path forward, they can apply this knowledge to become both firm and flexible and, most importantly, they can guide their teams in developing into high performing leadership teams.

How does our approach to developing leaders need sharpening?
Leadership development must always be improving, or you are losing ground; if you are not moving forward, you are slipping back. The surest method for determining one’s position relative to target is to question oneself and use the answers to drive advances. Like many things, the “goldilocks” approach is required – too much or too little will fail you, but “just right” will give you tangible advantages over the competition. Flow teaches leaders to be dissatisfied with the status quo and intellectually curious about what to improve and how to get better. Assessment, goals, and ongoing practices are the keys to continuous improvement.
